Mixing Business with Pleasure

I love what I do but there are just times when I REALLY love what I do. Take for example a recent trip to London, Ontario. This city is just great. Hip without the attitude and chic without the snobbery. Great restaurants…check. Lovely hotels...check. Nice people…check. After a day of hotel visits to just a few of the great venues (The Delta London Armouries- originally built in 1905 is a gorgeous venue with great history and The Best Western Lamplighter Inn with it’s stunning tropical atrium had me jonesing for a pina colada) I dropped my luggage of at the hotel metro an uber cool boutique hotel located in the heart of it all. There is something a bit depressing about entering a hotel room and having to accept that it is nicer than your own place…but I got over it quickly while soaking in the giant tub. Now, believe it or not that was the business part. To end the evening listening to Michael BublĂ© live on stage at the John Labatt Centre…always a pleasure.
Special thanks to Tourism London for their generous hospitality. - L

Tea for two...or twenty.

We just can’t think of a better way to spend a beautiful sunny afternoon then at a garden party.
We recently had the pleasure of planning a birthday garden party in beautiful Ottawa.
With the ladies in their finest hats and the men in their ties it had us feeling a little nostalgic. There's something to be said about catching up with friends while sipping tea in your Sunday best.

While some enjoyed an afternoon of games (badminton, bocce ball and croquet) others socialized around the tea bar. Beautiful china tea cups sat in waiting for one of the many varieties steeping for guests. For those of you looking to hold on to the last fleeting days of summer, we'd have to suggest a garden party. In our opinion, few things rival a nice afternoon get together with a good group of friends and a chilled glass of strawberry champagne. Cheers everyone!

Check in...

If you're planning a night in Niagara Falls anytime soon we have to recommend the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Fallsview. A recent event allowed us to appreciate the history of this great venue.

Some might say the hotel could use a little love but if you're the type of person that appreciates authenticity then this is the hotel for you.

Having been built in 1929 it's a piece of Niagara history not to be missed.

We truly enjoyed our stay, the rooms are smaller than we're use to (think hotel room in Paris or San Francisco) so not exactly ideal for two gals who often pack too many shoes, but we must admit there is something to be said about staying in the same room Marilyn Monroe called home for awhile in 1952. Admittedly, room 801 is not exactly the same as when Marilyn enjoyed it but that didn't stop us from soaking up the vibes. - L

Unique Venues in Toronto

Happy Monday Everyone!
This past weekend we took a tour of the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto. The tour was very interesting and educational and the (free) samples were delicious. While we learned quite a bit about how beer is made, we also discovered a great event space. The space is very unique and quite welcoming. With lots of exposed bricks, high ceilings and original beams it has the potential to transform into whatever you are looking for. The brewery currently hosts both corporate and social events including weddings. A perk of holding your next event here - with beer made right onsite you don't have to worry about running out!
Don't just take our word for it - check it out yourself! http://www.steamwhistle.ca/

This is a gorgeous venue with endless possibilities. The photographs that will be for sale at the auction (taking place April 15) were on display and we have our eye on quite a few! For more information on the auction please check out their website http://www.double-exposure.ca/

Coktail Reception Trend

Many couples are opting for smaller guest lists to allow for more lavish affairs, but cutting your guest list isn't the only way you can trim your budget.

Instead of having a sit down dinner you may want to consider a cocktail reception. As much as I love a good chicken satay, use this opportunity to get creative with your menu and how you serve it.

Think about having delicious morsels set on Chinese spoons or gazpacho in shot glasses. Yummy and memorable.

Have fun with it, it's your day. - L
